McCarthy! part 8

More of the hike back from the glacier

 We talked about the geology here for a while. (several moraines caused by two glaciers coming together is my understanding)

Between the dawdling of the kids and the dawdling of the geologists, it was slow progress.

I gave the camera to Andy so I could be in a few pictures.

Then on the 4-wheeler again.

Navigating a tight bridge.

And late lunch at the lodge. (pictures by Van)

Brian showed us some cool parts of Kennicott, where he works for the parks service maintenance crew. I wish I had taken more pictures of Kennicott, I didn't realize I had so little. We drove through it several times. It was neat to see all the old mine buildings.

Esther got to 'drive' home a bit.

I bought some earrings made from Copper nuggets found near McCarthy.
