We decided to hike up the Bonanza mine trail. It was amazing. The views were breathtaking.
But it was a pretty relentless hike, steep uphill the whole way. So we only made it about halfway up to the mine; even that took 4 hours round trip. I would love to go back someday and try to make it all the way up.
Stopping to give Jon a snack with a view.
The kids climbed trees, despite needing the break because 'they were so tired'.
Andy and Van went up ahead when Esther started to lag behind. It was actually easier to motivate the kids separately, and I think we all went faster that way. When Andy and Van turned around, Esther, Jon and I were only a few minutes behind them, so Andy took Esther and Van down and Jon and I kept going up to reach the viewpoint for a quick look, before returning back down to meet them.
So here are Andy and Van's pics
Then my pictures. I was in a bit of a hurry to run back down and meet everyone, so mine are just selfies in different directions.
After the hike, another stop at the river.
For some rock throwing.
Then some biking, before heading up the hill to the cabin.
