Flattop biking

Svea told me it would be too bumpy, and she was right.
I wanted to bike with Van from Flattop parking lot to either Prospect Parking lot (which is closer) or Hilltop Ski Area (which is farther). So Andy dropped us off at the top and we had our phone to call him for a pickup, where ever we ended up.

It's all downhill and flat, Van's favorite and although I had heard the trail was bad, I still wanted to try it.
Poor guy had a pretty bad wipeout because of all the rocks and bumpy trail. He wasn't hurt, but was shaken up and upset. He did great most of the way, but all it takes is one fall to ruin the fun, so we walked our bikes and took the first turn off at Prospect. Instead of waiting for Andy to come get us we biked through the neighborhoods towards him, that was probably the best biking of all.

Still, it was a fun evening playing with my little man.

Stopping for a snack

I told him to 'hey, look at me', but I meant 'look at the camera'

When I explained my mistake, he thought that was funny and decided to look even harder at me.

Van. You can tell he doesn't avoid the puddles.

What a great biker! I need to find some better trails for him. I love taking him out for adventures. And thanks to Andy and Esther for being our support crew for this ride.

Happy Birthday Finn

Yesterday Finn turned 6!

Here is Finn on his first day in the world

And here he is 6 years old.

Svea had a great party for him. First Peter pulled the kids on an inner tube in the lake in front of Rachael and Zach's house. Then we had a picnic in Svea's yard.

Here is the boat getting geared up.

One of the gang

You know how babies are, at first all they want to do is eat and sleep. But Esther is finally starting to learn the ropes around here.

She watches movies with Van

She stays up past her bedtime with Andy and I

She is adorable
She reads books at bedtime
 She plays in the rain

Yep, she's a good egg that one.

Bartlesville

My trip to Bartlesville was fun. A two day meeting, it was great to meet all the people I usually only talk to over teleconference.

The non-work highlight was finding a Bartlesville CrossFit box and dropping in for a couple of morning classes. Also reading all the time. I bought 6 airport books and read in all my spare time.

I checked in with Andy for all the basic milestones:

At the airport, waiting for my plane.
 Got my rental car.
 Made it to the hotel
Heading to work the first morning
 paying attention at work.
Going out to dinner after work
 Going on an evening run
Exhausted after getting lost on my run.

repeat and then fly home! It was a fun trip

Busy Saturday

We had a great day today. First some friends from high school came over for a baby breakfast reunion party.

Lindsey's little boy Marek

Rachel's little girl Charlotte

Then after Esther went down for her nap, Van and I needed to go to Carrs to get groceries for a dinner party we were having, so we decided to ride our bikes (and stop by frozen yogurt of course)

He's always hopeful that someone left something in there.

No luck yet, but he doesn't give up.

What a great last day before my trip to Oklahoma! I will miss these guys.
