Bunnies

We went to the playground this morning with Svea, Finn, Elin and Solvej and when we were leaving we saw some wild rabbits. All day Van has been pretending to be a rabbit.
His version of a rabbit is a little different though. When attacked, he beats his chest with his rabbit paws. His rabbit can also fight a t-rex and win. He says things like,

"I'm a ferocious bunny"
"I'm the toughest rabbit in Africa!"
"I'm as tall as a giraffes neck!"

I interviewed Van about bunnies

Do you like bunnies?
um yeah I like bunnies
What do you like about bunnies?
I like everything about bunnies. Um but I don't like them running away.
oh yeah, I could see that.
I run where they run.
Good idea. So what do you think bunnies like to eat best?
I don't know. crumbs maybe?
What colors are bunnies?
black. but I'm white.
You're a white bunny?
yep, but my mom is grey.
Can describe a typical day in the life of a bunny?
waaaa waaa
You think they cry all day long?
Yeah and sometimes they kick their little houses. and make it smaller
Where do bunnies live?
in holes. I live in the front yard.
Ok so to end this interview, what is your favorite thing about bunnies?
keeping them.
Like keeping them for pets?
yeah
Why?
because I like them
But what do you like about them?
I just like them

Moving

Well it's official. It's been official for a while now I suppose, we're moving. Just within Anchorage. The funny part is that we're moving right next door to where my sister is building a house, which is right next door to where my parents live. So all three of us will live in a row.

Writing all my thoughts is getting long so I'll just make a list of the great things about it
 - ski trails around all three houses
 - cousins playing together every day
 - sharing Costco portions of vegetables
 - sharing homemade meals, no more leftovers going bad in the fridge
 - great school district
 - Svea or mom or dad can walk all the kids to the bus stop in the morning and be there when they get home from school (since I'll likely be at work still)
 - family game nights

And more I'm sure.

The downside is that we're going to have to sell our wonderful house. Andy has put so much work and artistic talent into it and the neighboorhood/culdesac was just becoming fun because Van could play with all the kids. So if you want a great house, I took a picture this morning. It looks so pretty to me, but I am biased, I've grown quite attached to it.

Flattop again

Svea, Van, Finn and I climbed flattop on Wednesday. We had so much fun, no rainstorm this time, and Svea took these great pictures!

Self discipline

Van dropped the bag of rice while trying to put it in the cart and it broke, spilling rice on the floor. I was a little short on temper and Van knew it. He felt bad.

He says, "Mom, if I'm going to do stuff like this, you can't even bring me to the store."

Mind games

Me: "Ok, we need to go to the store, get gas, and then we can visit grandma. We should get her a present too while we're at the store. It sounds like her shoulder is hurting her"

Van: "And we'll bring her a present and that will make her feel better?"

Me: "Yeah"

(I call grandma and tell her the plan.)

Van: "Did you tell her we're bringing her a present?"

Me: "Nope. That's a surprise."

Van: "I don't want you to tell me that we're bringing grandma a present."

Me: "You mean you don't want me to tell grandma that we're bringing her a present?"

Van: "No. I don't want you to tell me that we're bringing grandma a present."

Me: "Ok"

Van: "So mom, are we bringing grandma a present?"

Me: "No."

Van: "But are we bringing grandma a present?"

Me: "I'm sorry I can't give you any information on that subject."

Van: "Huff. Ok, I think you can tell me that we're bringing grandma a present."

Me: "Ok"

Van: "So mom, do you have anything to tell me?

Me: "Yes. I think there's a dinosaur in the car!"

Van: "But it's not a real dinosaur… hey! you were supposed to tell me that we are bringing grandma a present"

Me: "Ooooooh:

Van: "So mom, do you have anything to tell me?"

Me: "Hey, I think we should bring grandma a present!"

Van: "Yeah!"

We brought her some fresh strawberries and fancy cheese.

Sunrise

Esther always sleeps in so it was actually fun that we found ourselves the only two people in the house awake at 5AM this morning. We watched the sunrise together and I made crepe batter for Van to eat when he woke up. She fell back asleep by 6:30 and I was able to sneak out to work.

She's so peaceful, I love her sweet nature.

Back porch picnic

Van loves flipping through old pictures.
Today he found this cute set from last year.

He got excited and found the table, which was down in the back yard, talked Andy into wiping it off, then got some food and plates and set up a snack for us.

(he got a little chilly and decided a shirt was in order)
