Halloween!!!

Van was going to be a viking and Esther a cow. I was ready for them to change their minds and didn't put much work into their costumes, since they would need to wear them under snow suits anyway... until the day before when I learned that Van would be allowed to wear his costume to school. So I ran to JoAnn Fabrics, bought some vinyl, and started sewing...

I followed this how-to blog, which was great.

With more time I could have done better, but I was still pretty darn proud of where we got. Oh and props to my second cousin Lauren, who came by to help me for a few hours. She made the buckle across the front, and most of the arm guards.

He was the most handsome viking I had ever seen.

And also good at making crazy faces.

After we got Van to school, Esther was a fox for her dancing class that morning.

Then grandma helped me sew some cow patches I had cut out of spare vinyl.
 She looked awesome.

She mixed and matched with viking accessories throughout the day.

Then soon enough it was time for trick-or-treating!
We went with John, Sam and Wyatt from across the street. Grandpa was the chauffeur on the 4-wheeler.

All the photos are blurry because there was so much excitement.

Another close up of our cow, to show how well her costume worked with a warm coat underneath.

Happy Halloween!
