I was the only one at CrossFit by myself this morning. Usually I hate that, but it was fun today, like having a personal trainer.
There was a 5 minute rest period between the knees to elbow/running workout and the Tabata pushups and Vic and I were talking about how strong gymnasts are.
I mean, my goal in life is to do a muscleup.
But that is not even a thing to a gymnast, that's just how they get into position to start their rings routine.
He said he wanted to get his kids into gymnastics and I thought, "yeah Van would like that too."
Good kinsethetic awareness we decided.
So I looked up gymnastics classes, and there was one for 5-8 year old boys that evening. So I signed Van up, the first class is free.
Van was excited, there he is looking in the gym, ready to start.
Meeting the other boys outside
Sitting in a circle for introductions
I was out in the hallway with Esther. She played with those toys for about 5 minutes, but mostly she wanted to watch what Van was doing.
Luckily she wasn't alone. Other little siblings were running around too.
Van getting coached on a cartwheel
Hanging from the high bar
Bear crawl
Trying handstands
Esther and another mom watching
Stretching
More cartwheels
I ran interference for a while keeping these two out of the room, but eventually we had to just shut the door. They were too persistent.
Van couldn't do many of the movements yet because he hasn't learned the technique yet, but the teacher said, "it's not lack of strength, I could feel it when I helped him, he's kind of a beast!"
Anyway it was fun! I think we'll sign up for it. Pretty cute to watch.
