Marathon Relay

Yesterday I did a marathon relay with some of my friends from work. It was pretty great, I had never done anything like that before. We finished the race in 3 hours 50 minutes and 4 seconds.

Here was our team
Leg 1 - (6.1 miles) Marina Krysinski - Coil tubing drilling (CTD) engineer and my triathlon training buddy
Leg 2 - (7.1 miles) Tess Cecil-Cockwell - Drillsite petroleum engineer (DPE), best dressed engineer on the floor
Leg 3 - (6.8 miles) Breckan Humiston - Insurance attorney and my friend from CrossFit
Leg 4 - (6.2 miles) Vanessa Angel - Enhanced oil recovery (EOR) engineer, me!

Our name was 'Floor 13 Running Team', because when we formed the team, all the runners worked on the 13th floor. But then my friend Mark Hill dropped out and Breckan joined. Coming up with a name was too hard so we never bothered to change it.

I was thrilled with my time. I ran the last 6.3 miles at an 8:10 min/mi pace. Not too long ago I tried to run 1 mile as fast as I could and only got an 8:00 min/mi so to go 8:10 for 6.3mi is almost unbelievable. If you like running, or want to like running, I would recommend the book "Born to Run". I've been having fun since I read that book. I changed my shoe and I feel smoother and faster.

Here are our team results

The first job was making sparkle headbands with my sidekick.

And she's off!

Tess waiting to start, she's leg #2

And Marina is done! I missed the handoff and only got awkward post-running photos.

Here Tess's husband Zack is in the picture.

Eating the pastries Zack got for us. Tess and Zack's house was our home base.

I didn't get to see Breckan take off, I dropped off Van and Esther at home and it was time for me to drive to Goose lake to wait for her to arrive for the final handoff. I took a selfie to send to the team.

Here she comes! Some people look so cute when they're running.

Other people less cute. But this is nothing compared to the finish photo.

I was doing some serious running.  :)
Tess and Marina jumped in so we could all finish together.

Here we are, all finished with our medals.

It was a great time! Looking forward to the next race. :)
