Prince Van saves Princess Esther

We bought a new video camera today. Here is our cinematographic debut. More to come.

Dinosaur jokes

So I saw the funniest joke on facebook,

'Why can't you hear the pterodactyl going to the bathroom?

Because the p is silent'

I know Van will love this joke when he understands spelling, because he loves dinosaurs and it is hilarious. In anticipation for him to enjoy it, I couldn't help but tell it to him early. Luckily, because it contained the phrase 'going to the bathroom' Van thought it was the funniest joke he'd ever heard.

Today I heard him retelling the joke to Finn, but he remembered it a little differently.

'Hey Finn, the velociraptor is going to the bathroom.'

He pauses and looks at Finn waiting for him to laugh when he doesn't Van adds,

'That's funny. That was a joke.'

A clean slate

Van: "Oh mom! There's the place we went!"

Me: "Yeah that's Uncle Joe's Pizza, we ate dinner there the other night"

Van: "and I didn't listen!"

Me: "Yeah you weren't a very good boy when we were there."

Van: "Next time we go again, I will listen"

Me: "Aw Van, that's great, I'm happy to hear that"

Van: "and I will never do bad things again"

Me: "Van that is fantastic, I really appreciate that"

Crust Playing

Now is the time of year we'd generally go crust skiing, but instead today we took the kids crust playing out on the flats in front of Oceanview.

It was a gorgeous day, and I found the greatest snack in the world at the store last night to keep the kids happy and moving. Justin's honey peanut butter, cocoa hazelnut butter and maple almond butter. It comes in little squeeze packets so everyone can have their own. It was a perfect snack because the ingredients are simple and healthy, it was easy to eat on the go, and most importantly everyone loved it! (I only had it for the first time today but I'm pretty sure I can't live without the maple almost butter from now on).

Lots of pictures below, it was all I could do to narrow the 200 down to the best 35, it's hard when Svea's camera takes the best pictures and the weather was so beautiful.

Alyeska

Yesterday I took Van and Esther to the top of Alyeska on the tram.
We ate lunch at the top and watched the skiers and snowboarders. Van really wanted to go down the mountain. He said we could slide on our bottoms in lieu of skies.
I didn't realize the tram ticket lasted all day or I would have made the trip longer, as it was I had only planned 1/2 and hoped Van would nap on the drive home, which did work out. Still we could have made a day of it, playing in Girdwood and riding the tram.

Van climbing on snowbanks. With hard crusts, this is a great time of year for snowbank climbing.

Easter

After an initial Easter egg hunt at our house, we met Svea and her family at Mom and Dad's for dinner. She made a delicious dinner and the boys got an Easter egg hunt on the snow machine trails while the girls found eggs on the back porch. And Esther got plenty of smooches.
