Fancy dress

Mom invited us over for dinner.

I was in the kitchen making the cookies I was supposed to bring and watching Van play in the sandbox. It was a pretty typical sight, he had no shoes on and was covered in dirt. I told him we should surprise grandma and show up at her house clean and dressed really fancy.

There are not many things Van loves more than being dirty; but luckily, surprising people is one of those things.

Van: "I want to be so fancy, she'll be like, 'wow'"
Me: "And we could match, you and me"
Van: "Yeah! I want to pick out your dress."

So we got to work.
Grandma was very surprised.

Esther woke up from a nap and said, 'pack-pack'. Sometimes that means she wants to ride on my back as a backpack. But not this time, so we found her a 'pack-pack' of her own. And pants with pockets, another one of her favorite things.

Thunderbird Falls

Today we hiked Thunderbird Falls with Svea and Brian and Jen and their kids.

Esther skipped her nap for this hike...

The hike was great, short and sweet. And then we drove to see Grandma LaRae in Big Lake and caught Mack, Sharon, Francesca and Gunner there. A great day.

Hooligan Fishing

This year I got to accompany Van and grandpa hooligan fishing.

First a quick stop at McDonalds for breakfast

Then off to the airplane
