A day of skiing

This morning Van and I went cross country skiing with the Lunoes.

We did Randy's loop. For the most part he can do it by himself, but his favorite part is when I skied with him between my legs for the big downhill.

'That was AWESOME!' he said.

So I decided we should try some downhill skiing. Because he's a bit of a daredevil, I had this idea that he would love every second of it and be a total natural. Obviously my perspective was pretty skewed. He was more like a 4 year old who'd never been on downhill skis before. Like 45 lbs of putty in my arms as I directed him down the hill. I held onto him the whole time. I think his balance improved by the end, but he can't do it on his own yet, he's just getting used to the feeling. I'm sore, but he got kind of cold.

Van on the slopes.

On the chairlift

Success! On the last run, we finally got to ride on the McDonald's chair, which was Van's goal all along. He was disappointed that they didn't hand out nuggets on the chair.
